Home educators are responsible for arranging their child’s exams.
Not all exam centres will accept home educated candidates, so it is best to check and contact them to register your interest and find out more information such as which exam boards, subjects and levels they offer.
Asking on local or main facebook pages such as Home Education UK Exams and Alternatives is a good start as you can find out which exams centres have worked well, and which ones haven’t and lots of other useful information.
Contacting them early, especially if you will require any Access Arrangements, is a good idea as certain subjects will book up early.
We are now a learning partner of Tutors and Exams, who worked extremely well with us this year enabling us to provide predicted grades for some of our students, which have centres in Coventry, Bolton, Wimbledon, Doncaster and St Neots and all Absolute Maths students can get the Partner Entry Fee on the published prices when we are mentioned. (You will need a code from us)
Tutors & Exams provides examination and assessment facilities primarily aimed at private and home educated candidates. The company was established in 2014 by a former Examinations Officer and Awarding Organisation Manager with over 25 years’ experience in education administration. In those intervening years Tutors & Exams has evolved into a much valued and respected examination venue.
Tutors & Exams has nationwide coverage with centres located around the country https://www.tutorsandexams.uk/#centre-locations. All are approved for examination delivery by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ).
In addition to our examination centres, we also have a dedicated Science laboratory based in Birmingham with the ability to deliver A Level Science practicals all year round (consecutive four-day course for each subject). We also work in partnership with two schools in London to deliver Science practicals outside of term time in these locations.
In 2020/21 Tutors & Exams delivered examination assessments to thousands of candidates. We cater for 95% of all GCSE/GCE and IGCSE subjects alongside Functional Skills and have a dedicated SEN specialist who can assist in organising access arrangements if required. We are willing to consider additional subjects to assess if required.
We work in partnership with many large, respected distance learning providers and online schools, and we very much value the relationship we have with them to deliver high quality assessment for their candidates. We also accommodate private training organisations delivering qualifications to sizeable cohorts geographically spread throughout the UK.
In addition, we also facilitate examinations for a growing number of universities to deliver their distance learning programmes. The University of London, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Napier University, Loughborough University and Edinburgh Business School are already valued clients. Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing and AAT (Association of Accountancy Technicians) assessments are also available in our centres.
